Bayabas, Toril District, Davao City and
the Lower Sirib, Calinan District, Davao City.
In Brgy. Bayabas the Ram Pump was built in
a water source located 30 meters below the barangay centers
ground level and is expected to provide 16,000 17,000
liters of water per day to 346 households. For Brgy. Lower
Sirib, it was built in a water source 40 meters below and
is expected to provide 2,300 2,500 liters of water
a day to a community of 765 households.
The project had already finished all its
milestones from the preparatory phase to the construction
and the installation of the ram pump system which covered
50 days. This already included the training of at least 3
representative from the beneficiary community for the maintenance
of the water delivery system.
Significance of the Project
Water accessibility and potability of the
said resource is a need that this project aims to address.
The ram pump project is expected to provide potable water
to at least 50 % of the community composed of approximately
765 Households. With this development health and sanitation
conditions are expected to improve. Agricultural productivity
within the area will also be enhanced not only directly in
terms of increased production but also indirectly as improved
health conditions presumably lead to increased efficiency
in farming other endeavors. The Ram Pump System is termed
as an environment friendly water delivery system. Since its
taps into the natural flow of the communitys water source,
utilizing only 20% of the total natural flow. In effect the
natural flow of the water source remains undisturbed.
This project aimed to provide access to
potable water for at least 50% of a community of 3,060 residents.
To capacitate the community through the peoples cooperative
for formulate a Ram Pump sustainability plan. Lastly, to provide
a model for a community-managed environment friendly, and
cost effective and efficient water system.
